Gabion Retaining Walls
Our experience over the years with gabion walls has meant that we concentrate on Welded Mesh gabions for our retaining wall solutions. These offer many benefits over woven gabions including reduced labour costs and dimensional accuracy.
The units are supplied flat-packed and folded into shape.
Whilst the concept is fairly simple there is a great variation in specification for each application.

Design & Manufacture of Gabion Retaining Walls
Normally with gravity walls the size and depth of the baskets is determined by the ground conditions and surcharge loading. In more aggressive environments polymeric coating is specified. Stainless steel baskets are also available if required. Design is carried out by Chartered Engineers with full Professional Indemnity Insurance.
The baskets are made from high quality steel wire in a range of sizes. The wire diameter can vary depending on the application. Similarly with greater protection can be afforded by galvanising or using Alu/Zinc utilising the Galfan process.
Installation of Gabion retaining walls
We install using pneumatic clipping tools, helicals or split rings. Once on site the gabions are visually checked. The stone infill is also examined. The stone can be handfilled to give a dry stone appearance. At each lift, a windlass can be supplied and tightened to help the rigidity. The lid is then closed and secured. Our "Full Cycle Involvement" aims to ensure Cost Certainty from start to finish. However design changes, if required, are quick and seamless.
