Retain Solutions Ltd. has recently completed an annual independent health and safety quality audit under the Safe-T-Cert Scheme and has since had our certification renewed as operating a Health & Safety Management System in accordance with the requirements of the Scheme.
As a result of the audit Retain Solutions Ltd has moved up two grades on the quality banding and has been registered under the Safe-T-Cert scheme in respect of the following activities; Civil Engineering, Design, Supply and Construction of Retaining Structures and the Supply of Geo-Textile Materials

Retain Solutions have just completed phase 2 of the installation of the Allan block wall on the Colin Glen road site.
The section of the wall is curved and rising up the steeply sloping site.
Main Contractor Brendan Loughran & Sons, engineers Gilligan Patners and Retain Solutions have replaced traditional brick faced reinforced concrete structures with the attractive split block faced Allan block system. This development is social housing scheme and Retain have proposed the modular block system, not only for aesthetic reasons but also the unique anti-climb feature prevents children climbing on the wall.
Retain have competed phase1 of the Connswater Homes site. The job is located on the old Dunmurry High School site, Lisburn Co Down. In just over 2 weeks Retain have installed a 200m long section of walling up to 2m high, ahead of programme. Retain are currently working with main contractor T&A Group and engineers Taylor & Boyd on the delivery of further boundary treatments.
The wall Retain have designed in this location is Allan block the BBA approved dry stack modular block walling.
Continuing on from Retain’s contribution to Northern Ireland’s first Olympic sized swimming pool in Bangor where Retain constructed Permacrib, timber crib retaining walls as part of the £38million development, Retain have been actively involved in the re-development of Northern Ireland’s iconic sporting venues which include:
- IFA National Football Stadium, Windsor Park, Belfast
- Royal County Down Golf Club, Newcastle
A modular block wall was constructed as part of the £35m redevelopment of the new National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, Belfast, and a Permacrib wall was constructed in preparation for the Irish Open held at the Royal Co. Down Golf Club, in Newcastle County Down.
In preparation for the first Irish Open in 76 years that has been played at the world famous Royal Co. Down Golf Club in Newcastle, Retain Solutions were appointed to design and construct a Permacrib, timber crib retaining wall. The Permacrib wall measured up to 3 metres high and was designed to support the ground surrounding a new greenkeepers storage area.
Retain Solutions recently completed the construction of a modular block wall as part of the £35m redevelopment of Windsor Park, Belfast. O'Hare and McGovern Ltd were the Main Contractor on the build forseeing the replacement of the south and east stands that will provide an 18,000 seated capacity National Football Stadium.
Retain Solutions were awarded the contract to design, supply and install gabion retaining walls at Fortwilliam Schools, Lundavra Road, Scotland. Approximately 210m of gabions are required with a maximum height of 4.0m. This project adds to the growing list of schools that Retain have been able to provide innovative design and construct solutions. These include:

Retain were approached by Persimmon Homes to provide a solution to the retention requirements at Gorebridge Residential Development Site in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The solution proposed by Retain designers was an Allan block system, a split face block with associated geogrid reinforcement. The wall was approximately 90m long and up to 3.0 m high. The wall was located in the rear gardens of the new housing units and supported an embankment running up to a higher level adjacent development.
This contract required Retain to liaise with T. Laurie & Partners Consulting Engineers, Glasgow and Persimmon Homes Glasgow.
Retain continued their ongoing partnership with Farrans Construction on projects in Great Britain who were working on a design and build framework to construct the new primary school for the London Borough Council of Uxbridge. As part of these works Retain constructed a 4m high gabion retaining wall to support a road and car parking adjacent to the school.
Retain also designed, supplied and installed a three tiered circular amphitheatre using standard 4mm welded mesh gabion baskets. These standard units were modified on site to provide the semi-circular structure. Retain also designed, supplied and fitted the wooden seating on the three tiers.
